About Keyless
If you have a large fleet with many vehicles, it can sometimes be a bit of a challenge when employees lose their car keys. It is a situation that is not only inhibiting the daily workflow but also expensive in compensation. Therefore, it may be an idea to consider a keyless solution.
This is how you get a keyless solution as an administrator
- Contact Mileage Book to access the feature on your account
- Your vehicles must have a special tracker model with CAN control. If you do not already have the right model, your units must be exchanged for the relevant vehicles.
- We handle installation for an additional fee per unit.
How to use keyless entry as an employee
The first time, the car must be unlocked with the key and then locked with the Mileage Book Fleet app. The key can then be stored in, for example, the glove compartment and not used further.
In the app, you can choose to unlock the car that you are near. Bluetooth signal has a limited range, so you need to be near the car to unlock and lock it again.
If you have problems unlocking, the fleet administrator can always unlock the car for you.
How to help your employees as a fleet administrator
If the employee needs help unlocking the car or if something is not working as expected, the fleet administrator can always access the Mileage Book via the web and help the employee.
Navigate to Fleet vehicles > Vehicles > Master data and subsequently click on a button needed to assist the employee standing by the car.
General questions
Q1: The car does not unlock?
A: The car must be unlocked with a key before you can use the Mileage Book fleet app to control the lock in the car. Alternatively, you can go to the "List" overview in your app and send an unlock SMS to the car's control unit and wait approx. 20 seconds for the car to be unlocked. While you're waiting, don't click around in the app.
Q2: The side mirrors don't pop out when I unlock with the app?
A: Correct. The app can only affect the locking mechanism itself.
Q3: Can you get a keyless entry in all cars?
A: The keyless solution is only supported in cars with central locking and where our special keyless tracker is fitted.
Q4: I don't see any cars to unlock?
A: Bluetooth signal only reaches a few meters, so you have to make sure you are standing near the vehicle. Used in Booking of the cars according to Pool car driving, you must have booked the car before it can be seen in the app as a car that can be unlocked.
Q5: I lost my key and can't unlock?
A: The key must be near the car in order for you to use keyless app locking. If the key is lost or forgotten elsewhere, you must contact the fleet administrator to have the car locked/unlocked.
Q6: Can I still unlock with a key if my app has a bad signal, mobile is out of power or similar?
A: The key will always be able to override the central locking. You can get into the car, but the car cannot drive until the fleet administrator turns off the immobilizer.
Q7: How do I know if the car is locked or unlocked?
A: It can be seen in the same way as with cars without keyless locking, - by trying to lock/unlock and see the blinkers on the car. Mileage Book does not keep a live status on the car's central locking system.
Q8: I forgot to lock my car, does it lock automatically?
A: No. Your car remains unlocked until you are within range and press lock in the app or with the key.
