Utilisation (Equipment)
The Utilisation page for equipment provides a quick overview of how efficiently your equipment is used in daily operations. You can see how much the equipment is in use, how much it is idle, and gain insights into how equipment usage can be improved.
You get an overview of how efficiently the equipment is used within a selected period. You can see how long the equipment is moving or active, compared to how long it is turned off.
This makes it possible to identify equipment that is idle too often, optimise usage, reduce unnecessary costs, and support better planning and allocation of equipment.
If multiple units have a low utilisation rate, it may be a sign that the equipment can be better distributed or reduced.
How to use the page
First, select a period by setting the From and To dates. The system automatically calculates the total period in hours. You can filter by equipment, equipment department, and employee to adjust the view. Click Apply to update the data. You can also export the report directly from the view.
Columns and what they mean
- Equipment shows the name or type of the equipment.
- Department shows which department the equipment belongs to.
- In motion (distance) shows how far the equipment has moved during the selected period.
- In motion (time) shows how many hours the equipment has been moving.
- Active time shows how long the equipment has been active without necessarily moving.
- Engine off shows how many hours the equipment has not been in use.
- Engine on shows how long the equipment has been turned on.
Utilisation rate shows what portion of the time the equipment is in use.
How the utilisation rate is calculated
The utilisation rate shows the relationship between active usage and the total period. It is calculated based on how long the equipment is turned on or in use compared to the selected period.
- A low percentage means the equipment is idle most of the time
- A higher percentage means the equipment is used more actively
